Imre Kálmán’s operetta «Sylva» (the original title is «The Queen of the Chardash») is one of the most beloved operettas in the world, telling the story of a variety show singer who falls in love with a young aristocrat. The world premiere took place on November 17, 1915, at the Johann Strauss Theater in Vienna. In Russia, it has traditionally been performed under the title «Sylva» since 1916. The operetta is full of unforgettable melodies: the fiery чардаш «Hey-ya!», the soulful duet «Do You Remember?», and the witty verses «You Can’t Live Without Women».
