Alexander Zhurbin’s musical «The Mousetrap» is a unique detective musical based on the legendary play by Agatha Christie, which holds the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous performance in the London West End. The production premiered at the St. Petersburg Musical Comedy Theatre in October 2022, directed by Nikolai Pokotilo. The story takes place in a snow-covered mansion, cut off from the outside world, where a murderer is hiding among eight strangers. Sergey Novikov’s set design brings the action into the refined atmosphere of the 1920s. This is a rare example of a musical where music and detective intrigue are skillfully combined.
