Arthur Sullivan’s operetta «Cox and Box in Court» is an evening of British operetta that combines two one-act works: «Cox and Box, or Separated Brothers» and «Jury Trial» . The plot revolves around a widow who simultaneously accepts the advances of three admirers who become her roommates . The Russian premiere took place on December 10, 2017, at the St. Petersburg Musical Comedy Theatre . The production was directed by Sergey Pantykin and designed by Sergey Novikov . The play was the first to introduce the sparkling music of «the British Offenbach» to the Russian audience.

At the center of a plot as intricate as it is amusing, is the beautiful widow Penelope-Anna, a woman of amorous and eccentric disposition, who, as the story unfolds, has given hope of reciprocation to a considerable number of admirers.
