The premiere of Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet «Cinderella» at the Musa Jalil Tatar Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre took place in May 2026. This vibrant production, which returned to the Kazan stage after more than 40 years, opened the XXXIX Rudolf Nureyev International Classical Ballet Festival .
A team of directors led by choreographer Nadezhda Kalinina worked on creating this «fairy-tale, magical ball.» The production designer and set designer was Sergey Novikov, who, together with the lighting designer Ivan Vinogradov and the video artist Ilya Smilga, created a luxurious and imaginative world on stage.
